TRANSFUSION MEDICINE AND PEDIATRIC HEMATONCOLOGIC DISEASES RESEARCH GROUP

tornar

Aims

Solid tumors in Pediatrics: Working in cancer molecular biology, we are mainly focused in the molecular features of neuroblastoma and sarcomas in pediatric patients. By analyzing specific gene expression with real time PCR techniques, we are currently studying the prognostic value of the sarcoma residual disease. We have also initiated gene expression analysis in rabdomyosarcome samples by high throughput cDNA microarrays.

- Blood diseases and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: study of epidemiologic, clinic, and genetic factors relevants in malignant (leukaemia) and non malignant (Fanconi anemia) homeodiseases. Study of umbilical cord blood transplant: recommendations, implant, hematologic and immunologic reconstitution and procedure related complications. Development of protocols for the prevention diagnosis and treatment for infections in transplanted patients.

-Transfusional medicine and immunohematology: ex vivo expansion of bone marrow for tissue regeneration. Use of  AC133 progenitors from peripheral blood for myocardial regeneration.
